A Goddess Eastre or Eostra stood for spring. Note, Easter Sunday falls on the first Sunday after a Paschal full moon or after March 21st as declared by the council of Nicaea held in 325 a.d. Christians had to adopt, co-opt, or incorporate this tenacious Pagan tradition and transform its meaning, thus Easter now represents the resurrection of Jesus Christ. From: Pandora's Word Box
