Honey

Immortality; initiation; rebirth. Honey was supposed to impart virility, fertility and vigour and to have an aphrodisiac quality. It was used as an offering to supreme deities and fertility spirits. The imagined parthenogenic origin of bees made honey an uncontaminated sacred food. In astrology honey was associated with the moon and thus with increase and growth.
