Senator

The archetype of the Wise Old Man or Senex is embodied in the elder statesman or priest.

Senex means the old, the aged. The senex includes both the older and the elder, which are different aspects of the archetype. In other words, with the elder you associate the qualities of wisdom, knowledge, and guidance, but you also have the older, which includes the bitter, limiting, judgmental, dismissive, bitter qualities of a person often associated with Saturn.

Merriam-Webster defines senator as a   member of the senate. Senate is defined as follows:

[Middle English senat, from Old French, from Latin senatus, from sen-, senex old, old man -- more at SENIOR]  First appeared 13th Century.

An assembly or council usually possessing high deliberative and legislative functions as:

a : the supreme council of the ancient Roman republic and empire.

b : the second chamber in the bicameral legislature of a major political unit (as a nation, state, or province).
