Belly/Stomach

The seat of life in Oriental thought.  Fat-bellied Eastern images are symbols of prosperity rather than gluttony.  The biblical story of Jonah's three days and nights in the belly of a whale was used by Jesus as an analogy for his own death and resurrection.  Alchemists used the belly as an analogue of the laboratory.
