Whirlwind

A manifestation of divine power.  In the Bible, God speaks to Job from the whirlwind.  Indian iconography portrays storm gods, notably Rudra, with braided hair expressing the spiral energy of the typhoon.  The whirlwind, which plucks objects into the air, reverses the symbolism of the whirlpool and is associated with ascent and powers of flight, including the opportunistic flights of witches and demons.
